What is that word? Tear?
Generally it is baffling, except to gen-x/y's whatever, that we don't own a tv. We do not receive analog or digital signals of broadcasts that is then received through a TV--but that doesn't mean that we don't have a TV. I do own a computer. Come on... This evening I watched my two shows: Lost and Battlestar Galactica. In the great aesthetic tradition I will attempt to assign metaphors to this great shows.
Brownie. Fresh baked brownie covered with powdered sugar. The first bite is exciting, blending the crunchy crust with the moist center. Chocolate, but not like drinking Hershey's syrup. Subtle. The second and the third bite, not bad. One serving is just enough to satisfy. Half a pan and you would like to v-m-t. Lost is somewhat like that. Exciting in small bits, but if you eat a half of pan you tire of the endlessly repeating single-instrument-held-out-then-stacattoed-to-a-squeal and the commercial breaks. My feeling is that each episode of Lost used to be a novella made of intricate and different parts that fit within an "A-ha....huh!?! moment at the end. Now I get paragraphs sluggishly progressed. Mind you, I like brownies and Lost, but only in single servings.
Stewed beef and mash potatoes after a long day at work and a small lunch. Keep shoveling that goodness into your mouth over and over again. What seems to be a simple taste in fact is a stout and moving simplicity that excites buds and nourishes bodies and souls. Single episodes/servings will not do: entire bowlfuls, seasons or semi-seasons in my case this evening, must be consumed to reach the pinnacle of consumption, fully sated. Admiral Adama is the only performer that has ever moved me (nearly) to tears (*glisten on eye*)-- many times. "If it had been you, I would have NEVER left." (weep). "This is Admiral Adama in control of the Galactica." (sniffle)
In closing, mustaches work.

We gave up on Lost... but we love BG. We usually wait until it hits DVD and then watch it as quickly as possible!
