Jim Elliot begins
Noël suggested that I read the journals of Jim Elliot again for the 3rd time: once when we first met and started being friends in Texas, again when we were living in Laguna Niguel, and yet again yesterday . . . except this time she pulled the book off the shelf for me. I opened it and began to read. The journal is a comprehensive record of his life and how the bible is lived out through his ideals, weaves prayers into his entries, and is an intimate view into the spiritually of a devout child of God. It is a great book so far. It is life-giving. God is continually honored. Each entry is only a few days between the next--so this guy was adamant about taking time to reflect on God. Encouraged by his example, I eliminated frivolous web surfing which included Google reader posts, Facebook visits, and the cessation of chess on my iPhone. Instead, I read Hebrews 1.
